Sand Washing & Fine Recovery

Review cleaning, grading, fines recovery and dewatering as connected process duties.

Start with the raw material and the size fractions you need.

Define what the sand must become

State the target grading, unwanted material to remove and the intended use of the finished sand. Natural sand and manufactured sand can enter the process with different feed and water conditions.

Separate the material and water decisions

A route may combine scrubbing or washing, classification, fine recovery and dewatering. Clarification, water return and sludge handling need a defined scope alongside the sand circuit. A wet route should not be selected solely because washing equipment is available.

Prepare the project inputs

  • Feed grading, clay character and fines content.
  • Solid feed rate or slurry flow and concentration.
  • Required product specification and handling condition.
  • Water source, return-water requirements and available space.
  • Destination of rejected fines and sludge.

For manufactured sand, review the upstream crushing and shaping stages as well as the washing section.
