Tailings Sand Recovery & Water Reuse

Review a tailings slurry route for fine-sand recovery, dewatering and a separate filtration branch. Define solids, particle sizes and water-quality requirements before selecting equipment.

Start with the raw material and the size fractions you need.

Define the material and project duty

This is a conceptual sand and slurry-handling process from the existing catalogue. It separates a recovered-sand route from a fine-slurry filtration branch. It is not evidence of metal recovery, saleable-product compliance or a completed customer project.

This is a conceptual process-planning route. Equipment sizes, capacity and final product quality have not been assigned to a specific site.

Process stages to review

  1. SumpDefine incoming slurry collection and the process boundary.
  2. Slurry mixingReview the mixing duty for the supplied slurry.
  3. Cyclone recoveryIdentify the fine fraction proposed for cyclone recovery.
  4. Dewatering screenDefine the recovered material and dewatering requirement.
  5. Recovered sandSet the handling and destination of the recovered sand.

Fine slurry enters a filter-press branch; filtrate reuse depends on water quality.

Information needed for selection

Project inputInformation to provideScope to review
Slurry feedFlow, solids concentration and changes during operation.Sump, mixing and recovery duty.
Particle sizesRepresentative particle-size distribution and material analysis. The fraction proposed for recovery and any required test work.
Recovered materialIntended use, required grading and moisture target.Whether the recovery route meets the proposed product requirement.
Fine-slurry branchFiltration test results if available, cake requirements and disposal or handling route.Filter-press branch and cake handling.
Return waterWater-quality requirements, available storage and proposed reuse location.Whether and where the return water can be reused.
Use measured site and material information where available; list unknown inputs for review.

Equipment and supply scope

The catalogue route lists an agitation tank, fine-sand recovery equipment, a dewatering screen and a filter press. Define the tanks, pumps, piping, controls and cake-handling interfaces separately. For a modification project, include the existing water circuit and equipment connections.

Prepare the enquiry

  • Water flow and solids concentration
  • Fine-particle distribution
  • Cake requirements and return-water quality

Send the material, operating duty and supply scope for this process.
